It's Complicated.

Lots of people are asking us when PB will be home... the short answer is hopefully soon. The long answer is more C-O-M-P-L-I-C-A-T-E-D. We have completed the "in US" approvals and paperwork. Everything we can do here to make the process move has been done. Now we wait for things to get done in Korea. Upon receipt of our visa request the U.S. embassy will send a request for verifying paperwork about PB to the korean adoption agency (Eastern). This paperowrk needs to include a permit issued by the Korean government giving PB permission to emigrate to the U.S. to be adopted and his passport. So... Eastern can't send their paperwork to meet up with ours at the U.S. Embassy until the Korean government issues an emigration permit (EP) and a passport- got it? Here's where it gets iffy... the timeframes for EP and passport are highly variable- weeks to (gasp!) months. After all the paperwork is returned to the U.S. Embassy a visa interview (VI) will be scheduled. That's a formality to review the paperwork- PB does not actually get interviewed! Soon (days) after that we should get our travel call- if all goes smoothly. Based on current estimates we are looking at late June to early July travel call. We hope to be on a plane within a week of our TC. My heart FEELS that is such a long time away but my head KNOWS it will be upon us before we know it!
